On Monday we saw the importance and function of Pranayama. Let us practice today.
Step 1: Sit erect on the floor, on a brick or some support underneath, with legs crossed
Step 2: With the pointer finger and middle finger of your right hand, joined together, lightly touch the space between your eyebrows
Step 3: Place your thumb lightly on the right nostril. Place your ring and little finger lightly on the left nostril.
Step 4: Slightly close your right nostril with your thumb, keeping the left nostril open. Inhale through the left nostril. Remove the pressure on the right nostril and slightly close your left nostril. Exhale through the right nostril.
Step 5: Repeat Step 4 for five minutes. With consistent daily practice, slowly increase the duration to 10 minutes, 15 minutes and so on.
Step 6: Lie down on your back with your hands by your side, palms facing upwards and legs straight for 12 breaths.
