The Mother
The Mother, born Mirra Alfassa (21 February 1878 – 17 November 1973) was Sri Aurobindo's spiritual collaborator in his mission. Sri Aurobindo entrusted the work of realisation of his vision to her and she organised and developed Sri Aurobindo Ashram. In 1952 she established Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education and in 1968 the international township, Auroville.
