Connecting to the Light
There is a light within that no grief can touch and every day we must put in some effort into getting in touch with it, just like a thirsty person would look for water. We do not value it. It takes effort but it is worth it because it is the only thing that is permanent. It is often concealed beneath the normal ups and downs of life, and everyday demands. However discovering this spark and acting from this space can harmonise all our other parts and also aid in facing life’s challenges. It helps us stay on our path instead of straying or caving-in to pressure.
Try to connect to this spark as much as possible. As you connect to this light more and more, you will be able to see it in all your activities - work, exercise, household chores. Gradually you can shift from doing activities in a mundane manner (or because you ‘have to’) to doing the same actions as acts of joy; receiving guidance from your own inner light on doing these activities in a better way, on what activities to do, changes, the motivation for changing and you will see a drastic shift in the way you experience life, even if it hasn't changed much from the outside.
Mid-week Practice: Connecting to Your True Self
Find a specific time and place everyday to spend with your true self. Let go of your worries, desires, emotions, thoughts, anxieties, plans and anything else that distracts you from who you really are at your core. Just be your deepest self. Do not identify with anything else. Feel the joy, the flow and the guidance as you stay centered in your true self.
Now continue to go about your normal activities while staying connected to your true self. Allow each activity, be it physical, mental or emotional, to flow from this space. Your truest self knows the right thing to do at each moment. Staying connected to it will give you the guidance and strength that you need to do your best at all times.
